Article: My 2025 Word of the Year
My 2025 Word of the Year
What's your 2025 beauty resolved?
Over the years, we’ve unpacked the concepts of mindless, never-ending self-care through consumption, overtly putting ourselves first (while feeling empty at the end of the performance of self-love), bottomless positivity, and manifesting to magnify our hidden perfectionism—losing our balance between being late and on time, being good and, sometimes, bad.
And so, we concluded that none of those things really end the quest for beauty.
When I say beauty, I don’t mean glossy skin. I know you know what I really mean.
What seems to have been lost is people talking *to* one another. Instead, we talk *at* one another. So many resources, research articles, and collective noise; meanwhile, we connect less and less in a true, intimate way.
So, for me, my word of the year is “intimacy.” Closeness. Affinity. Attachment. Togetherness. “Intimacy.”
It’s not limited to lovers. It can be a mother-daughter bond, a friendship, or a business partnership.
We all simply seek peace and a real intimacy to not feel lonely, to be seen, to feel attached to something more important than our mere selves.
So banal and lucky to achieve.
My 2025 beauty resolved will surely take time, as all things worth striving for usually do.
What’s yours?
