Beauty Secret #7

Before Dr. OZ endorsed it and made it famous,  it was an ancient berry that has been widely used for topical and internal ingestion to cure many ailments.

Largely unknown to many in the Western medical community, the use of sea buckthorn for medical application has been widely known and revered by Tibetan doctors dating back to the Tang Dynasty (617-907). Its beneficial properties are also acknowledged in ayurvedic medicine as far back as 5000 BC. The subject of intensive research by Chinese, Russian and Indian scientists, sea buckthorn oil has even been used to reduce the risk of radiation burns for Russian astronauts working in space.

I grew up in the Far East of Russia, where Sea Buckthorn was as common as raspberries in Oregon or Oranges in Florida.  My parents grew these precious berries and we harvested them to create fresh jelly, freeze them for later medicinal use or make tinctures/extracts.  I had to include this powerhouse ingredient in my formulations.

Quite possibly the most fully-balanced fruit on the planet, the sea buckthorn berry can be considered a “multivitamin” all by itself, containing 190 biologically active nutrients. These include vitamins A, B1, B2, C, D, E (tocopherols), K, P, carotenoids, flavonoids, amino acids, phenols, folic acid, organic acids, and 20 mineral elements. A rich source of essential fatty acids (or EFAs), sea buckthorn oil is the only known plant in the world to contain omega 3, 6, 7 and 9 together.

According to various scientific and clinical publications, the rare berry is most uniquely rich in Omega 7 fatty acid and Palmitoleic Acid.  Omega 7 can be found in animal and plant sources, including macadamia nuts, cold-water fish and sea buckthorn berries. Sea buckthorn contains a much higher concentration of this valuable fatty acid, up to 40% as compared to 17% in macadamia nuts.

Although I absolutely adore Macadamia Oil and include it in my luxurious Purifying Oil, I wanted to kick it up a notch for the night time and included this powerful, rare ingredient to combat signs of aging and speed up repair of epithelial cells

The outcome of my obsession with this childhood memoir, became the Night Repair Elixir.  It has quickly become a favorite among women who are into prevention of aging (um all of us?!).  The beautiful golden color of Gressa’s Night Repair Elixir is provided by the beautiful organic sea buckthorn oil, the smell is intoxicating and relaxing and it’s efficacy is undeniable.  Just a single use of this elixir and you’ll wake up to a restful, resilient and glowing complexion.

Gressa also wants to take good care of your delicate lips, which is why our LipBoosts have Sea Buckthorn as well.  Looking beautiful should not be a compromise of using well-known companies that include bad ingredients. Look for ingredients that really benefit you .

Glamour meets ancient tradition. Can’t get much better than that.

Have a wonderful weekend,
